Lower Ocoee Tubing
Cool off this summer with a relaxing float down the beautiful Lower Ocoee River. OAR provides all the equipment you need, along with a guide for every 10 people to keep you safe on the water. The river is just a short bus ride up the road from our Outpost. This adventure is great for big groups, small families, or a few friends. There are no age restrictions, so you can bring the little ones along too! Children must be able to fit into OAR life jackets (50 lbs) or bring their own life jacket if accompanied by a parent/guardian. The journey ends back at our Outpost, making for a convenient, no hassle excursion.
OAR offers three trip types, depending on water levels and TVA release schedules*:
- Ocoee Dam 1 to OAR Outpost: this trip lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on water levels and paddling speed. With its gently moving current and beautiful forest views, this section of the river is great for small children and those looking for a relaxing float. Our shuttle drivers will transport you and your crew from our outpost to the put-in, just a five minute ride away. After a short tubing tutorial, you and your guide will float back to the OAR Outpost.
- OAR Outpost to Nancy Ward Take-out: this trip lasts 2-2.5 hours, depending on water levels and paddling speed. After learning the basics of tubing, you and your guide will put-in at OAR's riverside pavilion. With winding turns interspersed with some mellow wave trains, this section is sure to provide relief from the summer heat. When you reach the Nancy Ward Take-out, an OAR shuttle driver will be ready to drive your group back to the Outpost, just a short ten minute ride away.
- Ocoee Dam 1 to Nancy Ward Take-out: want the full tubing experience? This trip lasts about 3.5 hours and journeys from the top of the Lower Ocoee all the way to Nancy Ward. An OAR shuttle driver will drop you and your guide off at the put-in and pick you up after your adventure.
*TVA guarantees water releases on the Lower Ocoee River on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm from June through August, but they frequently release on weekend afternoons as well. Give us a call to find a time that works for you!
